ANDLaine Hall and Roland Passaro, both 88 years old, were the first loves of each other’s lives, when they were just teenagers. Now, 70 years after they followed other paths, they tied the knot in Palm Coast, Florida, USA.

The enchanting love story is told this Thursday by The Washington Post. Elaine and Roland tied the knot last Saturday, March 23, in a ceremony attended by their children, grandchildren and even great-grandchildren, who happily applauded the union between the two elderly people.

The wedding was the culmination of a decades-long love. The couple grew up four blocks apart in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and fell in love at school in the 1950s.

However, after several years of dating, when they were 20 years old, they decided to follow different paths. Roland went to college, got married and had three children, played professional baseball and built a business. He later worked for an airline in Miami, where he ended up a widower and also lost a 37-year-old son.

Elaine, who was a journalist and later director of the Morning Call newspaper, married and divorced at the age of 40. Before separating from her first husband, she also had three children.

Elaine and Roland danced their first song together again

However, fate decided to cross their paths again, in 2003, during the 50th class reunion.

After a “heartfelt conversation” that night, Elaine and Roland exchanged emails and phone calls for months until they decided to move in together, about a year after they started dating long distance.

In October last year, the couple decided it was time to (finally) get married.

To The Washington Post, Roland recalled that Elaine was the “hottest” in the class and the “smartest”. “She knew the answers to every question,” she described.
The American, who was a cheerleader, guarantees that the groom “was as handsome as he could be”. “He was the ace and all the girls liked him. But he liked me, which was great,” she joked.

On their wedding day, which was very emotional, with some of the children accompanying their parents to the altar, Elaine and Roland once again danced to ‘Kansas City’, a hit from the 1950s, which they first danced together when they were just teenagers.
