The arrests were announced by Rabbis for Peace, the organization to which the rabbis belong, which identifies the American journalist as Ayelet Waldman.
On its account on the social network X, Rabbis for Peace denounces that “the Israeli government is using hunger as a weapon of war against 2.3 million Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip”.
“This manufactured hunger follows decades of forced displacement, military occupation and communal subjugation by the Israeli government,” the activists add.
Israel’s war cabinet earlier this month approved the opening of the port of Ashdod and the Erez crossing in the north of the Gaza Strip as a measure to increase the flow of humanitarian aid, but these entries are subject to huge restrictions.
Israel began a military offensive against the Gaza Strip on October 7, after the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas attacked the south of Israeli territory and caused around 1,200 deaths and kidnapped more than two hundred people.
The Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip has already caused more than 34,300 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health of Hamas, which has governed the small Palestinian enclave since 2007.
