“UAn air strike with drones was carried out this morning against factories in Tatarstan located in Yelabuga and Nizhnekamsk,” wrote the press service of Tatar leader Rustem Minnikhanov in a message posted on the Telegram platform.

The attack “did not cause serious damage, the companies’ technological process was not disturbed”, he said in the same message, which did not specify which factories were targeted.

“In Yelabuga, there were unfortunately some injuries”, he highlighted.

The Yelabuga Special Economic Zone, created in 2006 and home to dozens of factories and companies specializing in the production of chemical products, mechanics and metal processing, is located about 10 kilometers from the city of the same name.

Two drones attacked a house in Yelabuga at 02:45 GMT (03:45 in Lisbon), injuring two people, the press service of the special economic zone said in a statement.

Nizhnekamsk is home to a major oil refinery.

Ukraine, which has been facing a Russian offensive for two years, has intensified attacks against Russia in recent weeks, mainly targeting energy facilities.

Kyiv had promised to take the fighting to Russian soil in retaliation for the numerous bombings on its territory.
