Following a recommendation from the Public Ministry of Bahia, Juazeiro City Hall will remove the statue in honor of Dani Alves, convicted in Spain of sexual assault. The Brazilian, it should be noted, paid one million euros and was released on parole.

«The municipal administration sent to the MP a copy of Administrative Process No. 295/2019, Auction No. 137/2019 and the payment processes relating to the acquisition of the statue of Daniel Alves, which attest that it is a public good acquired with public resources, and it is not allowed to honor a living person with a public asset”, explained Daniela Baqueiro, prosecutor, cited by the Globe Sports.
