Many people are passionate about numismatics and, with the right attention, has become a good form of investment: people are increasingly paying more for some of the most valuable and rare pieces in many collections. So much so that it is worth paying attention to old coins – and some not so old… – that you may have in your wallet or stored at home.

The high values at auctions, as indicated by the newspaper ‘El Español’, do not only concern coins from other eras: there is a one-cent coin from 2002, that is, just over two decades old, which has become the ‘jewel ‘ from any collection, as it can be worth tens of thousands of euros.

The ‘Holy Grail’ of any collector stands out not only for its low face value but also for its particular design and rarity, which has sparked interest: the coin in question is the 1 cent coin of real value that was designed by Rolf Lederbogen, German architect from Lower Saxony who died in 2012.

The reverse of this coin features an oak tree, a significant symbol in German history and culture. The oak represents the protective state of its citizens, while the stem symbolizes strength and stability.

What makes it exceptional is the fact that it is made from a different type of steel compared to other cent coins manufactured at the same time, a uniqueness that gives it a distinct color.

The truth is that this particular item, due to the fact that there are very few copies in the world, has already fetched up to 50 thousand euros in some of the most prestigious auctions.

Despite its extraordinary value, it is always recommended that you consult numismatic specialists, who can carry out an accurate assessment of your collection.
