UA four-month-old baby is admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Brindisi, in the Italian region of Apulia, in an alcoholic coma. According to La Repubblica, the grandmother mistook white wine for water while preparing a bottle.
The incident happened on Tuesday, April 29, and the baby drank part of the bottle’s contents, and then refused to continue drinking.
After realizing the error, the baby’s mother immediately went to the emergency room, where she was given a gastric lavage. Subsequently, the child was transferred to the Giovanni XXIII pediatric hospital, in Bari, to be admitted to an ICU.
The authorities considered that it was a mistake made by the grandmother, who used wine instead of water to dilute the powdered milk. However, an investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of the case,
The baby is stable, but, due to his age, the possibility of danger to his life has not yet been ruled out.
