Elon Musk decided to go to court and is taking legal action against OpenIA and its executive director, Sam Altman. For Musk, the company and its main leader abandoned the mission of helping humanity to seek profit.

Musk says Greg Brockman, one of OpenIA’s co-founders, approached him with the idea of creating a nonprofit company, but now the Microsoft-backed company has broken that contract by focusing on money.

Musk was one of the co-founders of OpenIA in 2015, but left the company’s management in 2018. He currently leads Tesla and SpaceX, but is also known for his purchase of the social network Twitter, now known as X.

Sam Altman, the current CEO of OpenIA, was fired in 2023 by the board of directors, who accused him of not having in mind the development of AI to help humanity. Altman returned to office mere days later with a new board of directors.

OpenIA is especially known for ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence that became popular around the world after its launch in November 2022. ChatGPT became so popular that it encouraged giants like Microsoft and Google to create their own chatbots.
