DAfter divorcing Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in 2019, MacKenzie Scott decided to turn to philanthropy and charity work. Scott, who had already promised to donate 250 million dollars (230.6 million euros) to 250 non-profit organizations, has now announced that she has decided to (significantly) increase this amount.

MacKenzie Scott’s Yield Giving organization announced this week that it will donate $640 million (590.4 million euros) to a total of 361 different institutions – more than double what was pledged last year. While 279 organizations will receive 2 million dollars each, another 82 organizations will receive 1 million dollars.

MacKenzie Scott’s philanthropic work has been noteworthy since her divorce from Jeff Bezos, but apparently it hasn’t pleased everyone. One of the displeased is Elon Musk who, according to Business Insider, shared a post on the social network X where he criticized Scott.

“Super rich ex-wives who hate their former husbands should be listed among the ‘Reasons That Led to the Extinction of Western Civilization’”wrote Musk in a since-deleted tweet, expressing his opposition to this type of charity work.
