The Funchal City Council will double the number of charging stations for electric vehicles, the vice-president of the municipality announced this afternoon, at the opening of the Used Car Market, at Tecnopolo, in Penteada.

Faced with an increase in the sale of electric vehicles, Bruno Pereira says that some homes do not have the means to charge their cars, particularly in the city center, where many homes do not have a garage.

The councilor says that the data he has, regarding existing machines, indicates an increase “very close to 30% of users per year”.

The competition will be launched next month, involving an investment of around 240 thousand euros, which will provide the city with double the number of machines, including all car parks at Câmara Municipal do Funchal, 2000, Campo da Barca, Severiano Ferraz (Red Cross) and Praça do Colombo.

The chamber is thus associated with what Bruno Pereira says is “a trend in the sale of electric cars”. There are currently 11 charging stations in Funchal.

The event, initiated by ACIF-CCI, runs until Sunday, from 10 am to 10 pm, with an offer of two hundred cars, with prices for different budgets.
