Harvey Weinstein is arrested

The New York Court of Appeal, in the USA, decided to sentence Harvey Weinstein for sexual crimes, which gave rise to the MeToo movement. Despite this decision, the businessman will remain in prison.

At issue will be errors made during the trial. The judge justified the overturning of the conviction with his previous decision to allow women to testify about allegations that were not part of the case.

“We conclude that the trial court erroneously admitted testimony of previous, uncharged, alleged sexual acts against persons other than the complainants of the underlying crimes,” the ruling said.

Remember that the former Hollywood producer is serving a 23-year sentence for forcing a television production assistant to perform oral sex and for being involved in the rape of an aspiring actress. He is also accused of sexual misconduct by more than 100 women.
