Actress Eva Mendes broke her 12-year silence about the drama starring her and her partner, actor Ryan Gosling. The two artists met and began their relationship in 2011, during the filming of ‘The Place Where It All Ends’ (2012), directed by filmmaker Derek Cianfrance and also starring actor Bradley Cooper.

Mendes and Gosling are now parents to Esmeralda (9 years old) and Amada (7 years old). The actress recalled her experience working on the 2012 film in an interview with the ‘Today’ program.

“I’ve never experienced anything like that,” said the actress when asked about her experience on the film. “The way he [Gosling] work, his commitment to acting, the way he wants everything to be the best it can be – and that makes his colleagues even better.”

Afterwards, she joked: “Unfortunately, or fortunately, there is only one Ryan, so I ended up stopping acting after that.”

Eva Mendes stepped away from her acting career in 2014, after working on ‘Rio Perdido’, Gosling’s directorial debut. In 2021 she voiced an episode of the children’s cartoon ‘Bluey’. Her partner recently competed for the Oscar for best supporting actor for his work as the character Ken in the blockbuster ‘Barbie’ (2023).

In the same interview with ‘Today’, Mendes also spoke about dynamics with her husband in relation to raising their daughters and her choice to move away from Hollywood.

She said about the option of staying at home with her daughters: “It was like it was obvious. I’m very lucky… I thought, ‘if I can have this time with my daughters…’. And I still continued working, I just didn’t I acted because acting takes you to different places, takes you away.”

Mendes also said: “It was almost like a non-verbal agreement that it was like, ‘Okay, he’s going to work and I’m going to work, but I’m going to work here.'” Watch the trailer for ‘The Place Where It All Ends’ below. :
