OSisters’ marriages to brothers (from another family) are not uncommon. However, it is unusual for two identical twins to marry two other twins, who in turn are also identical, and for both couples to have daughters with DNA so similar that they are considered genetically sisters, as happened in Oregon, USA.
According to People, twins Kerissa and Vanessa Sealby, who have thousands of followers on social media, started dating twins Jacob and Lucas in 2020.
Vanessa started dating Lucas, weeks after meeting him, on a blind date. Later, the couple introduced the brothers and Kerissa and Jacob fell in love.
Both relationships worked out. After getting married, the couples moved to neighboring houses and had two daughters: Sophie, who was born in 2022, is the daughter of Kerissa and Jacob, and Adrian, who was born in 2023, is the daughter of Vanessa and Lucas.
Although technically the girls are cousins, genetically they are ‘quaternary sisters’, as they have very similar DNA.
Speaking to Today, the director of genetics at the pediatric unit at Hassenfeld Hospital in Langone Health, John Pappas, said that they “share DNA in the same way that siblings do.”
Despite this, parents assure that children have very intense personalities. “Adrian is more intense while Sofia is calmer,” Kerissa revealed to People.
