Lavras experienced moments of intense competition and sporting celebration during the 2024 School Games. With the participation of 650 student athletes representing 20 schools, including municipal, state and private schools, the event showed the talent and dedication of the region’s young athletes.
In basketball, Escola Municipal José Serafim dominated, winning the title in both Women’s Module 1 and Men’s Module 1, demonstrating its strength and skill on the courts. In Men’s Module 2, Colégio Adventista-FADMINAS shone, taking home the victory.
In futsal, the diversity of champions was remarkable. Escola Estadual Dr. João Batista Hermeto became champion in Women’s Module 1, while Unilavras won the title in Men’s Module 1. In Module 2, Escola Dr. João Batista Hermeto was once again victorious in the Women’s category, while Colégio Nossa Senhora de Lourdes took the trophy in the Men’s category.
In handball, Unilavras showed its excellence, winning the title in Women’s Module 1. In Module 2, Colégio Nossa Senhora de Lourdes stood out, winning both the Women’s and Men’s categories.
In volleyball, Instituto Presbiteriano Gammon came out on top in Women’s Module 1, while Colégio Nossa Senhora de Lourdes once again shone in Women’s Module 2. In Male Module 2, Colégio Adventista-FADMINAS secured victory.
With the competition over, eyes are now turning to the next stage of the School Games, the Microregional at SRE4, which will have Perdões as its headquarters. The technical meeting is scheduled for March 27, 2024, and the stage will take place from April 15 to 21. Basketball, futsal, handball, volleyball and chess will be the modalities in dispute, promising more emotions and high-level competition.
