Brazil opened 244,315 formal job vacancies in March, according to the General Register of Employed and Unemployed Persons (Caged), released this Tuesday, 30th, by the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

The result was well above the expectation indicated in a Reuters survey, of net creation of 188 thousand jobs.

The number of formal jobs created in March exceeded the total recorded in March 2023 (194,372), but was below the number in February (306,708).

In the year to date, the balance was 719,033 formal jobs, resulting in 6,622,749
admissions and 5,903,716 dismissals. In 12 months, the country created 1,647,505 formal jobs, resulting in 23,795,523 admissions and 22,148,018 dismissals.

According to the government, Brazil currently has a stock of 46.2 million formal jobs, which represents an increase of 0.53% compared to the month of February.
