The British monarch took a break from public appearances almost three months ago to focus on treating an undisclosed type of cancer.

The palace said Carlos will make a public visit to a cancer treatment center on Tuesday, the first of several appearances he will make in the coming weeks.

One of his first important commitments will be the state visit of the Emperor and Empress of Japan in June.

The palace did not provide updated information on the king’s health or his treatment, although it stated that “the medical team is very confident with the progress made so far and remains optimistic about the King’s continued recovery.”

Carlos continued his state duties, including reviewing government documents and meeting with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak following the release of his diagnosis on 5 February.

“Her Majesty is very confident about resuming some public duties and is very grateful to her medical team for their continued care and expertise,” the palace said in a statement.
