01/03 - Day D to Combat Dengue has cleaning, fogging and guidance services for students

Pindamonhangaba will hold the D-DAY of Mobilization against dengue on Friday (1st). There will be actions in various parts of the city, which include blocking, inspection, guidance, fogging in properties and heavy vehicle fogging, in addition to the distribution of pamphlets and guidance material in public areas with high circulation of people.
Students from all municipal and state schools will participate in education initiatives. In the specific case of municipal units, there will be theater, music, exhibitions, guidance, distribution of pamphlets, as well as inspections in schools to look for and remove containers that accumulate water, such as plastic bottles, cans, pots and plant pots. The Secretary of Education, Luciana Ferreira, informed that “each unit has the freedom to work on the topic with students in the way it deems most efficient. Our teachers are already developing actions aimed at providing guidance on dengue fever. And in the case of DIA DIA, they received a new mission and will carry it out in the best way possible, so that students become multipliers of this awareness”.
Regarding cleaning, teams from the Subprefecture and the Army continue in the Moreira César region, mainly in the vicinity of Pasin and in the village region. After completing this stage, next week they will move on to other neighborhoods.
In Pindamonhangaba, the action begins on the streets of Castolira, where in addition to cleaning, the Government Secretariat will carry out an environmental action, with the separation of recyclable items from the rubble. The director of Public Cleaning and Waste, Nilton Carlos Eugênio, explained that “the objective is to keep the city clean and avoid wasting material. In this way, our teams will separate unusable materials from recyclable ones, thereby combining the fight against dengue breeding sites with environmental action.”
He stated that, “after the end of the service in Castolira, the Government Secretariat will evaluate with Health which neighborhood will be cleaned next”.
The director of Risk Protection and Health Injuries, André Pereira, said that “work against dengue includes blocking, fogging, inspection of properties, instructions to residents, among others. The City Hall Vector Control Sector defines neighborhoods according to the advancement of dengue numbers. However, there is no point in carrying out all our actions if residents do not cooperate in cleaning their yards and eliminating stagnant water.”
