Araruama – This Friday (15), Araruama City Hall, through the Municipal Health and Public Works Departments, held another D-Day of the campaign to combat dengue in the municipality. The action took place in the Parati neighborhood, between 9 am and 4 pm.

On that occasion, the team from the Public Works Department cleaned and removed rubble and rubbish from residents’ backyards, which could become breeding grounds for Aedes aegypti, the mosquito that transmits the disease.

Health agents visited homes to guide residents on measures to combat mosquito proliferation, preventing the accumulation of stagnant water in objects such as tires, gutters, dishes used to support plants, among others. The importance of correctly sealing the water tanks was also remembered.

In places where mosquito outbreaks and larvae already existed, insecticides were sprayed.

It is important to highlight that, in addition to dengue, mosquitoes also transmit chikungunya and zika. Awareness and collaboration between citizens and public authorities is essential to minimize the occurrence of diseases.
