Among the different aspects that food brings together is the power to not only bring the properties to keep our body functioning, but to reduce the risk of diseases and bring improvements to health, thus resulting in a greater quality of life.

In this sense, some specific foods contain nutritional properties that help with mental health, such as improving mood, for example.

According to experts in the field of nutritional psychiatry, foods rich in fat and sugar – which, by the way, are the most consumed by those who are depressed or under high levels of stress – are those that offer the least benefits, although they are classified as comfort foods as they present immediate, but very brief, relief.

Mental well-being is deeply related to the eating style an individual adopts, and for this reason certain items can contribute to mood regulation. A diet that promotes good intestinal function, for example, results in higher doses of dopamine and serotonin, which are directly related to human emotions.

Furthermore, population studies indicate that people who ingest more foods rich in nutrients have higher levels of mental well-being, happiness and satisfaction with life. Some examples are fruits and vegetables.
