The activities of the “Caxias against the mosquito” Campaign continue to take place throughout the city. And, this Friday (22), the team from the Basic Health Unit (UBS) of Volta Redonda, in partnership with the Zoonoses Surveillance Unit, nursing students from UniFacema and students from the Tia Joana and Antônio Edson schools held a awareness walk to combat the Aedes aegypti mosquito through the streets of the neighborhood.

In the action, in addition to providing guidance and information about diseases caused by mosquitoes to residents of the neighborhood, the teams also removed possible Aedes aegypti breeding sites from homes and establishments.

According to the nurse at UBS Volta Redonda, José Nilton, the event takes place every year.

“This is already an annual event, organized by Community Health Agents, to educate and raise awareness to combat Aedes aegypti. Let’s go out to every street and every residence,” he said.

“We are here with a range of people who will ensure that this work reaches homes, and that people start thinking about what could be happening here in the Volta Redonda neighborhood. It is very important that we all make this revolution and that society participates in it, so that together we can combat Aedes aegypti very efficiently”, highlighted Natanael dos Reis, coordinator of the Zoonoses Surveillance Unit (UVZ).

Community Health Agent, Marla Antônia, highlighted the work carried out to combat arboviruses.

“The work is to raise awareness and raise awareness among the community to take precautions and not allow water to accumulate for mosquitoes to proliferate. We give all the guidelines on how to keep the home or work environment clean,” she said.

“It’s very important, it adds to the academic’s knowledge. It is also important to alert the population about the elimination of outbreaks to prevent the transmission of the disease”, concluded nursing academic, Cleber Gomes.
