A study conducted by Pasquale Pignatelli, from the University of Sapienza, in Italy, and published in the Federal Council of Nutritionists, highlighted the benefits of dark chocolate for smokers. The scientist highlighted that the high concentration of cocoa in dark chocolate contributes to the presence of antioxidants in its composition.

The antioxidants present in dark chocolate have the ability to neutralize free radicals, which are more abundant in the bodies of smokers. In this way, regular consumption of dark chocolate can help smokers reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases by capturing these harmful molecules.

To reap the benefits, Pignatelli recommends that smokers consume between 20 and 40 grams of dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa per day.

However, it is important to highlight the importance of moderation in consumption, as chocolate, despite its benefits, is still a source of calories and can lead to weight gain if consumed in excess.

Additionally, it is crucial to consider other health factors when adopting any dietary change, and smokers should always seek appropriate medical advice to develop personalized health strategies. In summary, dark chocolate can be a valuable ally for smokers, but its consumption must be balanced and integrated into a healthy and conscious lifestyle.
