The Terezinha Gaio Basso Regional Hospital (HRTGB), in São Miguel do Oeste, took an important step towards excellence in serving the population of the Far West of Santa Catarina with the acquisition of new equipment for neurological surgeries. The Craniotome, acquired with resources from the State Government, is state-of-the-art and was designed to further improve patient care during procedures.

The Surgical Center manager, Luana Vargas, spoke of the benefits of this technological advance. “At the Regional Hospital Surgical Center, we perform several surgeries daily, and we frequently encounter emergencies related to neurosurgery. A modern craniotome is essential to improve the performance of these procedures, offering surgeons a device that guarantees precise and safe cuts, providing better quality and safety for patients.”

A reference for the municipalities of the Far West of Santa Catarina, the Terezinha Gaio Basso Regional Hospital, a unit of the Government of the State of Santa Catarina and administered by the Santé Institute, serves 100% of the Unified Health System (SUS). The hospital has 92 beds, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a large Surgical Center and an Emergency Room that operates 24 hours a day.
