RS reaches 50 dengue deaths in 2024 | Rio Grande do Sul

Rio Grande do Sul reached, this Tuesday (20), the mark of 50 deaths caused by dengue in 2024. The State Department of Health (SES) notified three more deaths.

The deaths all occurred in the northwest of the state. One 23 year old womanwith pre-existing illnesses, died in Santa Rosa on March 19.

In Três Passos, one died 80 year old man, also with comorbidities, on March 11. In Vicente Dutra, the victim is a 89 year old man, also with pre-existing diseases. The death occurred on March 25th;

Santa Rosa is the municipality with the most cases of dengue in RS

So far, they are 40.1 thousand confirmed cases of the disease in the state only this year. In the same period, in 2023, Rio Grande do Sul had 8,700 cases of dengue.

Measures to prevent the proliferation and circulation of the insect, by cleaning and reviewing the internal and external areas of homes or apartments, prevent the mosquito from being born, cutting the life cycle in the aquatic phase.
