The Judiciary Police (PJ) detained a man and a woman, in Viseu and Coimbra, for the alleged crime of kidnapping, robbery, serious physical harm and possession of a prohibited weapon. The victim was a 24-year-old man.

According to a statement sent to Boa Nova Radiothe events occurred on February 2nd, “when the detainees, in the company of another man who, at the time, had escaped, under the pretext of consuming narcotic products, took the victim to a forested area on the outskirts of the city of Viseu”.

At the location, away from housing, the man was “threatened with a firearm, violently attacked, tied up and doused with fuel”. “However, because he managed to free himself and escape, he ended up not being set on fire”, says the PJ.

According to the elements collected by the Directorate of the PJ Center, the crimes were motivated by matters of passion.

The two detainees, aged 33 and 21, were presented to the judicial authorities for their first interrogation, with the man subject to the coercive measure of preventive detention and the woman to weekly presentations and a ban on contact with the other participants.
