“Definitely the Bahamas”, the main show of World Theater Day, takes place on the 27th, starting at 9:30 pm. It is a play by English playwright Martin Crimp written in 1986, for three actors from two different generations: the sexagenarian couple starring Custódia Gallego and Marques d’Arede; and the student originally from Galicia, by the young Galician actress Cristina Gayoso Rey. A retired couple, Tita and Gui, married for decades, speak to us in the living room of their house. The couple rents a room in their house to a young student, who occasionally crosses the scene to do little more than answer the phone, but whose presence calls into question all the normality that is attempted to be fabricated in the description of everyday life. Having originally been written for Radio, the piece contains a strong ironic and dark humor, served by a dizzying and sizzling rhythm. Despite being written more than 30 years ago, today we find a relationship with the discourse centered on issues of migration and cultural shocks, resulting in an excessive and alarmist position on the presence of the Other in our lives, but above all in our discourse and imagination. . The play now takes on renewed meaning with the rise of nationalism, populism and xenophobia.

Tickets cost €5.00 and are also on sale at BOL, the Municipal Gallery and the Auditorium (7:30 pm – 9:15 pm, on the day of the show).
