Head of list for Viseu says that ‘cavaquistão’ will become ‘venturistan’

A farm full of light, banners with flags along the entrance and almost five minutes of fireworks. This was the arrival of André Ventura at the place where on Friday night he joined around 300 supporters at a dinner/rally in Campia, Vouzela. The Chega leader did not appear accompanied by his “bride”, but supporters were waiting for him with the party and Portuguese flags. And just like at weddings, live music accompanied dinner.
During his speech, André Ventura said that the district of Viseu is “one of many districts that the country has failed, but here it is perhaps more visible how the promises of 50 years of PS and PSD have failed”.
“There is no TGV nor [linha ferroviária da] Beira Alta because they simply make promises to deceive us, they know they won’t keep them, and we are the ones who have been the useful idiots of PS and PSD in recent years”, he accused.
Considering that “this has to end now”, the Chega leader argued that “for the first time” in 50 years of democracy there is an “opportunity to break the cycle of bipartisanship”.
During these years, he criticized, “vices” and “bad habits” were created and “corruption took root in all spheres of society”.
“Now it only goes there with a rupture, this no longer goes there with half words or with the change from pink to orange […] We have to get out of the mud of corruption and only Chega can lead the country out of the mud of corruption”, he highlighted.
Chega’s list leader also spoke about climate change and quipped: “We’ve never seen such a thing, storms in winter, it’s really climate change. All that’s needed is for heat to come in summer.”
Ventura also spoke about agriculture, which he considered to have been “destroyed and ruined” and warned that it “could quickly collapse”.
Returning to also comment on the statements made by the head of the AD list for Santarém on climate change, the president of Chega said that there is “climate extremism” which he classified as an “uncontrolled obsession with destroying everything that is modern, generates wealth and income”, and criticized that “today the climate argument works for everything”.
“These pseudo-environmentalists who infiltrated the PS, the CDU, the BE, the Livre and the PAN have more love for one thing, what they really like is to extract taxes from us to continue financing their political clientele”, he accused.
André Ventura once again committed to, if he becomes government, launching “an emergency program and support for agriculture”.
The head of the list for Viseu, João Tilly stated that “everything that happened in the district of Viseu were promises and nothing more” and stressed that Chega wants to “change the state of things”.
“We are still ‘Cavaquistão’, but Viseu will stop being ‘Cavaquistão’ and become ‘Venturistan’ from this year onwards”, he argued.
