Applications for the Young Volunteer Program in Amarante are now open. The measure is aimed at young people who wish, through volunteering, to actively intervene in the community and acquire skills. The maximum admission is 136 candidates and applications close at 11:59 pm on March 17th at forms.cm-amarante.pt.
Interested young people will have to carry out 3 months of volunteering, totaling 180 hours. The allocation of the monthly scholarship, to compensate for the expenses inherent to the development of volunteering, corresponding to the number of hours per month, is €550.
Taking place between June and October 2024, the Young Volunteering Program is aimed at students enrolled in higher education, attending the 1st cycle and/or 2nd cycle of studies and/or professional higher technical courses (except postgraduate and doctorates; that is not a second course of 1st cycle and/or 2nd cycle of studies and/or higher professional technical courses or second change of course), residents in the municipality of Amarante for more than two years, aged equal to or younger 26, and who express their intention to pursue a volunteer program.
Civil protection and environment, tourism, communication, social action, health, education, sport, culture, defense of heritage, employment and professional training, development of associative life and the social economy, promotion of volunteering and social solidarity or others of social interest and community, are some of the program’s areas of occupation.
For participants, the Amarantino municipality guarantees “coordination and monitoring, personal accident insurance, monthly stipend and certificate of participation”. Volunteering is determined based on the availability of the local authority and partners, and taking into account the candidates’ areas of study.
