“This institutional sponsorship recognizes the CNAP’s maximum levels of rigor, technical demands and excellence in complying with the standards of the International Olive Oil Council for quality awards for Extra Virgin Olive Oil”, explains a press release from Cnema.

Intended to distinguish homogeneous batches of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, the CNAP “allows the distinction between Olive Oils with Protected Designation of Origin and Olive Oils produced in Organic Agriculture and also awards the «Best on the Market» prizes to Olive Oils purchased directly from the national market by organization of the Competition”, highlights the same note.

It also awards the “Prestige Extra Virgin Olive Oil” prize to the lot that obtains the highest absolute final score, and also the “National Agricultural Fair Prize” to the lot with a volume equal to or greater than 20,000 liters that obtains the highest absolute final score.

Cnema, which organizes the CNAP in partnership with the Center for Studies and Promotion of Olive Oil of Alentejo, also explains that the competition has a panel of official tasters, national and foreign, reference professionals in the sensorial analysis of Olive Oils who, for two days, of blind tastings taste, evaluate and score the Portuguese Olive Oils in competition.
