Leicar’s corporate bodies elected for the four-year period 2024-27 took office on Thursday (14), in a ceremony held at the headquarters building of the Association of Milk and Meat Producers. Before those present, the president of the Board, Rui Sousa, stated that he was certain that “the four-year period that is now beginning will definitely mark the rise to an institutional level that goes beyond survival”.
“Agriculture in the northern region plays a vital role in preserving landscapes, promoting environmental sustainability, territorial cohesion and food sovereignty. However, it faces challenges that require adaptation and elevation to ensure the continuity of this essential sector. And let us remember: without the fundamental role of the farmer, there is no food on the table”, said the president of the Association.
Lucinda Amorim, councilor of the Póvoa de Varzim City Council present at the ceremony, congratulated the inaugurated team, saying that “they will perform an extremely important role for all of us”.
On the part of the Municipality of Barcelos, councilor José Paulo Matias was “very pleased to see the youth and the dynamics that this leadership seems to have”, adding that “as a councilor responsible for the economic activities of the municipality of Barcelos, I know a lot well the type of importance that Leicar has for farmers and agriculture”.
