Mutilated body found in the Lapa neighborhood, in Lisbon, belongs to a foreigner

The PJ revealed information about the mutilated body found in a rubbish bin, in Lapa, Lisbon. “DThe vast array of investigations carried out so far has resulted in elements that allow us to conclude the identification of the victim. This is a 35-year-old foreign man who has lived in Portugal for some time.”, says the Judiciary in a statement.

This Friday, Expresso revealed that the autopsy on the mutilated body was carried out late this Thursday afternoon at the Institute of Legal Medicine.

Expresso knows that, in recent days, several Inspectors from the Judiciary Police were carrying out investigations at Valorsul waste treatment plants, which encompasses the metropolitan area of ​​Lisbon, looking for the other part of the body. But so far nothing has been found.

Another tool considered important for the investigation are the video surveillance images from the hostel located in front of the trash can where the lower part of the corpse was located. There is hope that the cameras may have captured the moment the body was deposited there and recognized the perpetrator (or perpetrators) of the crime.

Another clue that could give inspectors some kind of answer is the small tattoo on the buttock. Expresso does not know, however, the level of development in the investigation into this detail.

A legal medicine source warns that the rest of the body may have been cut into several parts “in order to make the investigation and identification of the victim difficult” and that there is a possibility that they were left by the perpetrator in different locations. “The most important parts for the investigation are the head and hands, as they are the ones that allow the person to be identified.”

In recent days, Expresso has spoken to police and forensic medicine sources about the case unanimously considered “bizarre” and “uncommon” in Portugal.

There is also a consensus that this was a crime of passion and not a settling of scores between violent gangs. A case that may have similarities with the murder in Cadaval, in the central zone, last year, in which a man was also dismembered and the perpetrator had a sentimental relationship with the victim.
