However, the suspect remained silent, even after confessing to the crime to the PJ. Nothing saved him from being deprived of his freedom and it is in jail that he will await trial.
“I heard screams and a violent argument”
The alleged killer will have a past marked by violent relationships. A neighbor tells the CM that the man of Spanish nationality had even tried to throw an old boyfriend from the 4th floor where he lived onto the street. Only later did he join the mortal victim, with whom he had already shared a house for several months. They were seen on the street exchanging insults. In the three days before the crime, the couple had “argued violently”. A resident, who lives next door to the killer’s apartment, reports that he heard screams and considered calling the police, but ended up being “surprised” by the tragic outcome. The suspect walked more than 50 meters, with the dismembered body, which he allegedly deposited in different locations. He concluded that only in this way, with the corpse divided into several bags, would he be able to carry his boyfriend from the top floor of the building, which was old and had no elevators. The mailbox was open, with the door broken. Inside are unopened letters. He had lived there, according to neighbors, for close to a decade. He spoke to few and revealed little about the life he led.

Framed by the bag
The couple were regular customers at a nearby cafe and grocery store – it was in the latter that the killer was filmed buying garbage bags on the night of the crime. The images were decisive in linking the victim, who had since been reported missing, to the suspect. In the cafe he is described as a “peaceful” man, fragile in appearance and “without the strength to fight someone bigger than him”. The companion was “more agitated”.

Successful investigation
In just a few days, the Lisbon Judicial Police managed to identify the victim and suspect of the macabre crime. “First we identified the suspect and only then the victim,” said João Oliveira, director of the Lisbon Judicial Police. It was through the trash bags that inspectors were able to identify the suspect.
