“Forces of Nature”, by Ivana Müller, “To touch and not arrest” and “Presentes”, by Christian Duarte, are some of the highlights of the program.

From April 27th to May 12th, the fourth edition of Transborda – International Performing Arts Exhibition brings shows, laboratories, performances and conversations to Almada. The exhibition takes place at the Romeu Correia Municipal Forum, at the Joaquim Benite Municipal Theater and at Casa da Dança.

The exhibition is a unique event in the country, which “consolidates a unique context of performing arts and brings diverse audiences closer to innovative works by international choreographers in Almada”, as can be read in the press release. In addition to the shows, the exhibition promotes coexistence between cultures, highlighting the urgency of new forms of cooperation.

In each edition, Transborda presents an overview of the work of an international artist and creates actions aimed at sharing their proposals and practices. The fourth edition brings to Almada for the first time the Croatian choreographer based in France Ivana Müller, with the show “Forces of Nature”, which constitutes “a collective journey through a landscape in constant transformation that questions the meaning and potential of what we have in common, the notion of interdependence, the sustainability of resources, the importance of caring and the need to act”.

The exhibition also proposes a journey through three works by the featured choreographer, Cristian Duarte. The solo “The Hot One Hundred Choreographers”, a reference for dance in Brazil, urges the public to navigate through a body that “negotiates its own repertoire and memory”. “Presentes”, a duet in collaboration with dancer Aline Bonamin, evokes memories and explores its strength capable of producing new arrangements and sensations. “To touch and not arrest” by the same choreographer, on May 3 and 4, is a collective experience with 30 participants that “moves the body, memory, words and things that cross us today and creates arrangements to delirious the life in the face of an unbearable reality.”

Transborda also supports a new creation, with the premiere of “Mono-no-aware” by Rafael Alvarez with Mariana Tengner Barros and Noeli Kikuchi. It also presents “Boca Fala Tropa” by Gio Lourenço, and “Janet Panetta: Diosa Ancestra” by Argentine artist Cecilia Lisa Eliceche.

Ivana Müller will also share her research in an intensive laboratory and Rafael Alvarez will offer a Contemporary Dance Laboratory for people over 55 years old. Critic Ruy Filho also runs a Critics Workshop and mediates conversations with artists.

The fourth edition of Transborda is organized by Casa da Dança and has the support of DGArtes, Iberescena, Instituto Francês de Portugal and Câmara Municipal de Almada. Shows at Casa da Dança have free entry, subject to reservation. Tickets for shows at the Romeu Correia Municipal Forum have a value of 6 euros (5 euros for young people, seniors and groups), and at the Joaquim Benite Municipal Theater they have a value of 10 euros (8 euros for seniors and 7 euros for young people The event also has the support of ALMADENSE as a media partner.
