The Guia Folar Test celebrates its twentieth edition. The event is a reference in the calendar of this parish in the municipality of Albufeira and always takes place on Easter Sunday. This year, there will be no exception to the rule, taking place on March 31st, from 4pm, at the local sports center.
“The giant folar, which is the main attraction of this initiative, is joined by music and entertainment, a crafts show and the presence of thousands of visitors who have become accustomed to this lively afternoon”, he informs in a statement.
In the last edition, the event had more than three thousand visitors, a mark that the Guia Parish Council “intends to surpass this year”. To this end, the focus on animation goes to the performances of the duo Emanuel & Tânia and Adiafa. The crafts show promises “many surprises” for those who like unique pieces linked to local traditions, where there is no shortage of sweets and delicacies related to the season.
But the “highlight” of this celebration is the tasting of the giant folar, weighing more than 250 kilos, which is distributed among everyone present, in a moment of sharing that also symbolizes the spirit of the season.
The event is organized by the Guia Parish Council, with the support of Local Commerce and Albufeira City Council.
Dinis Nascimento, president of the Board, highlights that this initiative “is already a tradition of the parish that has attracted more and more visitors and that shows a facet linked to our roots that is important to promote, without forgetting that, with this sharing, we celebrate the values of era”.
The event has free entry and the folar can also be tried at no cost.
