The president of the Junta de Barreiros, Silvério Silva, is concerned about the existence of “inconsistencies” in the review of the Municipal Master Plan (PDM) of Amares, which is in the analysis phase of the complaints presented.

In an intervention made at the last Municipal Assembly, the mayor of Barreiros spoke about the PDM and its importance in the development of the municipality of Amares and the parish of Barreiros.

He also spoke about “property rights”, namely the transfer of territory between parishes, if some allotment processes are not handled well and the parishes involved are not called upon to give their opinion.

One of the concrete examples pointed out by Silvério Silva is a subdivision on Municipal Road 568, on the connecting road between Barreiros and Lago, which is registered at the Conservatory as being Lago, but, “according to the military charter, a large part belongs to Barreiros” .

“The fact that everything is registered in Lago is a blatant subtraction from my parish, which I will not accept. It is a very sensitive issue that requires urgent clarification, otherwise we will be accused of doing nothing to defend our territory”, pointed out the mayor.

In response, the Mayor of Amares, Manuel Moreira, said that the process is in the “final phase” and that around 200 requests for changes were presented during the public consultation period. “It is a subject that needs to be debated with jurists”, he stressed.
