Two men were detained by the PSP on suspicion of drug trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon and theft, following searches carried out in Torres Novas, Portalegre and Elvas. The Portalegre District Command of the PSP explains, in a statement, that it carried out on the morning of March 21st several home search warrants, as part of investigations into suspected crimes of drug trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon and theft, which were taking place several months ago.

During the operation, in which two men aged 44 and 65 were detained, the PSP seized two hunting rifles, a revolver with a tampered serial number, an ‘airsoft’ gun, a replica firearm and 47 cartridges. various calibers. According to the PSP, “two high-end vehicles” were also seized, which had been stolen in Spain, along with 17 grams of marijuana, 140 seeds and 20 cannabis plants.

The PSP also indicates that one of the detainees was released and notified to appear before the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the other, after being presented to the judicial authority, will go to a prison establishment as he has arrest warrants against him to serve a prison sentence.

The operation was coordinated by the Portalegre and Elvas criminal investigation squads and had “a strong device” made up of police officers from various other areas, supported by two subunits of the Special Police Unit, namely the Intervention Corps and the Cinotechnical Operational Group. . The PSP adds that several Rapid Intervention Teams from the Castelo Branco and Santarém District Commands participated in the operation.
