GNR announces that it has dismantled drug trafficking network

In Olhão and Vila Real de Santo António, eight members of a drug trafficking network were arrested

Through the Criminal Investigation Center (NIC) of the Faro Territorial Detachment of the GNR, on March 20, eight men aged between 17 and 35 who formed a criminal network were arrested in Olhão and Vila Real de Santo António. of drug trafficking that operated between Olhão and Vila Real de Santo António.

The Faro Territorial Command of the GNR also reported that as part of an investigation, which lasted around nine months, the military from the NIC of Faro identified a narcotic product sales network organized into two main cells, one for distribution and the other for supply, so that there is no narcotic product in large quantities during the sales activity.

The GNR military collected enough evidence to allow them to execute eight home search warrants, six non-domestic search warrants and three arrest warrants.

It should be noted that the Guard, through its policing, investigation and intervention capabilities, carried out an operation with the collaboration of the Public Security Police (PSP), complying with the various court orders.

For this purpose, the Faro Territorial Detachment, intervention detachment and the criminal investigation structure were committed to a total of 85 soldiers, in addition to the collaboration of the PSP with 27 elements.

The operation, in addition to the eight detainees, resulted in the seizure of: 20,994 euros in cash; 3,519 doses of hashish; five doses of cocaine; three doses of MDMA; a dose of cannabis; thirteen cell phones; a laptop computer; a high-displacement vehicle; six bladed weapons, including a bayonet saber; a weapon of airsoft; a compressed air gun; a scale; and a marble base (for preparing doses).

The detainees were present at the Judicial Court of Faro this Friday, for the application of coercive measures.
