World Water Day, March 23rd, served as an excuse for the Lions Club of Póvoa de Varzim to deliver the tile alluding to the project “The Sea begins here…” and in our consciences, to the Schools of the Agrupamento Cego do Maio – Schools Pedreira and Giesteira.

The ceremony was attended by the Vice-President of the City Council, Luís Diamantino; the President of the Union of Parishes of Póvoa de Varzim, Beiriz and Argivai, Ricardo Silva; the representative of the Board of Directors of the Póvoa Lions Club, Miguel Matos; the Director of the EB 2/3 Cego do Maio Group, Arlindo Ferreira, and the President of the Federation of Associations of Parents and Guardians of Póvoa de Varzim, Magda Costa.

The negative impact that our polluting actions and distractions have on the sea, as well as the inappropriate behavior we have in wasting water, in its contamination that will, in time, make the soil infertile, but also the pollutant load that reaches rivers and then to the sea, a little bit of everything, he became aware and became aware of why “The Sea starts here…”.

The sustainability of the planet depends on our responsibility to do for nature what it has always done for us.

The tiles will be displayed in the Schools of the Agrupamento Cego do Maio – Escolas da Pedreira and Giesteira, with the intention of alluding to the responsibility of each student in taking care of the future of the planet, a task that is carried out daily.
