The magazine Arquivo Histórico da Madeira has a new issue, which this Tuesday was presented at the Atlantic History Studies Center – Alberto Vieira (CEHA-AV), which consists of 17 articles that address issues about Madeira, the Islands Atlantic, the Atlantic and Globalization.

This is number six of this publication, which is the oldest historical and cultural magazine still in force in the Region, covering the current year 2024, and is the result of a collaboration between several authors, who produced articles that “remain for posterity as robust foundations of the eternal construction of knowledge”, highlighted the Regional Secretariat of Tourism and Culture, which presents this project promoted through the Regional Directorate of Archives and Library of Madeira (DRABM), through CEHA-AV.

Regarding the magazine, which has occupied, since the second quarter of the 20th century, a place of relevance with regard to the production of knowledge and safeguarding of regional heritage, Eduardo Jesus recalled the importance of the existence of a magazine like these, with “quality assured ”, to highlight the role of CEHA as a research center.

The edition of the magazine was interrupted but, in 2019, publication was resumed, on the initiative of Fátima Barros, and is currently, under the direction of Nuno Mota, made available in digital format, being hosted on the institutional page of DRABM.

It was the same person in charge, former director of the Madeira Regional Archive, who was, today, in charge of presenting this new issue, whose number of pages – 1,063 – makes this the longest edition of the Madeira Historical Archive.

The publication can be consulted on the DRABM institutional page, at https://ahm-abm.madeira.gov.pt/, with free access.
