Coimbra City Council, in collaboration with the Municipal Library, is preparing to open its doors to the public for an exhibition that promises to remember the historical moments that marked the April Revolution. Entitled “We Remember April on Vinyl”, the exhibition will present a collection of album covers that contain iconic and unforgettable songs, enriched with compositions and poetry that contributed to building the path towards freedom and democracy.

From the 2nd of April until the 26th of June, visitors will have the opportunity to delve into the world of music that accompanied and promoted revolutionary ideals. Entry will be free.

The exhibition spans a range of vinyl formats, from LPs to singles, featuring works by a range of artists, poets and singers who played a key role in shaping political consciousness during the years leading up to the Carnation Revolution. Among the names, figures such as José Afonso (1929-1987), Manuel Freire (b. 1942), Fernando Tordo (b. 1948), Sérgio Godinho (b. 1945), Ary Dos Santos (1936-1984), Adriano stand out. Correia de Oliveira (1942-1982) and many others.

The exhibition will be on display at the Municipal House of Culture, with visiting hours from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 7:30 pm, and on Saturday, from 1:30 pm to 7:30 pm. From April 2nd onwards, everyone is invited to embark on this journey through music and history, in a celebration of the values ​​that defined the April Revolution of 1974.
