Bookings for summer holidays on the rise, in an Easter without much growth | Tourism

A year ago, tour operators announced a demand for travel at pre-pandemic levels, while in Portugal what, several sector officials predicted, could be the best tourist year ever began to take shape. At the beginning of the year, the then Secretary of State for Tourism, Commerce and Services, Nuno Fazenda, confirmed this in a public session of Turismo de Portugal, referring to 2023 as “the best year in the history of tourism in Portugal”. And, meanwhile, at the beginning of March, the president of the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT) declared to the Lusa agency: “Sales and reservations made [nos primeiros meses de 2024] are clearly higher than those of the previous year.” 2024 seems to be lined up with new peaks in tourism, even though Easter seems to be being neglected in relation to Summer.
