On March 26th, the Municipal Auditorium of Pinhal Novo – Rui Guerreiro, was the stage for a significant event for the local educational community. Under the leadership of the Mayor of Palmela, Álvaro Balseiro Amaro, and the Councilor for Education, Maria João Camolas, 74 students residing in the municipality were awarded Scholarships for the 2023/2024 academic year.
Aimed at 42 students from Secondary Education, 30 from Higher Education and 2 from Technological Specialization Courses, these scholarships represent a municipal investment of €52,500 in the academic training of young people from Palmela. The initiative reflects the authority’s commitment to promoting education, recognizing the financial challenges faced by many families and seeking to ensure equal opportunities in access to quality education.
The support granted, governed by the Regulations for the Attribution of Scholarships, aims to encourage the continuation of studies among young people from families with fewer resources, contributing to the reduction of inequalities in access to education and to the academic and social development of the municipality of Palmela.
