More than 25 thousand emigrants returned to Portugal in the last 5 years with the program “Return”which, through tax benefits, encourages the Portuguese to return to the country.

Proof of this are the cases of Mariana Rabaçal and Francisco Gil who They spent several years emigrating to the United Kingdom and Spain.

Mariana is now a young businesswoman in Portugal, but it was a long journey to get here. She worked for seven years as a nurse in the United Kingdom and returned to her home country in 2022 to modernize and expand a family business.

The “Return” program It was the push I needed for Mariana, her husband and daughter to move with suitcases and luggage to Portugal.

A dream that became reality thanks to the support of this Government program.

“It was the cost allowance and also the 50% tax exemption”which Mariana says made her return to Portugal easier, incentives “that make a lot of difference” and who also brought Francisco back to the country where he was born after five years working in Spain.

The program started in 2019 and is in force until 2026, with more and more applications.

Applications are made online, and the majority of those who want to return are between 25 and 44 years old and they see this program as a gateway to Portugal.
