April 6th also marks the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace

On April 6th, World Physical Activity Day and the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace are celebrated, the days of which are a global initiative, aimed at promoting physical activity and sport among all the population, encouraging regular practice and the acquisition of healthy lifestyle habits.

With its celebration, we seek to contribute to disseminating among the Portuguese population the recommendations of the World Health Organization for the population: for adults, perform at least 150 minutes per week of physical activity of moderate to vigorous intensity, or 75 minutes of vigorous physical activity, and for children and young people to perform at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity daily.

In this sense, the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth (IPDJ) invites all entities to contribute to this initiative, in any way possible, so to register the activities, interested parties should click here, select the ‘Initiative’ tab and World Physical Activity Day.

In the Algarve, the IPDJ Regional Directorate will hold a class open to the public, taking place on April 8th, starting at 11:30 am, on the terrace of its facilities, on Rua da PSP, in Faro, to which everyone is invited .
