A collapse of the track, on the Western Line, led this Monday to the suspension of train circulation between Caldas da Rainha and Torres Vedras, informed Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP).

Railway traffic on the section between the stations of Caldas de Rainha (in the district of Leiria) and Torres Vedras (in the district of Lisbon) was suspended at around 11:45 this Monday, “after a track collapse was identified” , IP said in a statement.

Contacted by the Lusa agency, the company clarified that the reduction occurred at kilometer 89.4 of the Linha do Oeste, in the parish of Carvalhal, in the municipality of Bombarral, district of Leiria, with “still no forecast for the restoration of train circulation” .

In the statement, IP also informed that maintenance teams are “on site to carry out repair work, with a view to restoring traffic conditions as quickly as possible”.

While the work is ongoing, which the company estimates could be completed by the end of the day this Monday, road transfer of passengers between those stations is being ensured, concluded IP.
