A shooting at an elementary school in Vantaa, Finland, killed one child and injured two others. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning, with the Finnish police having already confirmed, through a written statement published on the official website, the arrest of a 12-year-old suspect.

The three injured children were transported to the hospital, but one ended up succumbing to her injuries. The severity of the injuries suffered by the children is not known at this time. All those involved in this incident are 12-year-olds, police later confirmed.

The school complex has around 800 students, teaching classes from the first to the ninth grade. The school is located in a suburb of the Finnish capital, Helsinki, and no details are currently known about the potential motivation for this attack.

Clarifications from the Finnish police

It is known, however, that the authorities managed to detain the young man suspected of this attack, and the firearm that was allegedly used in this shooting was also seized.
