Closing concert by the Youth Orchestra of the Official Conservatories of Music OJ.COM

-

In the next April 6th, the closing concert of the OJ.COM internship will take place – Youth Orchestra of the Official Music Conservatories, at 5pm, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro. Rehearsals will take place between the 1st and 5th of April in Loulé. On stage there will be around 80 musicians (students) from 10 different public music conservatories, from mainland Portugal and the Islands.

The OJ. COM appears as an annual project, developed since 2001, and whose objective is to provide a Symphony Orchestra internship, consisting of the selection of the best students from public schools specializing in artistic music education. Each year, participating students are selected from the various conservatories by the maestro, who assumes the artistic direction of the project, and who is hired by the organizing school.

As the Loulé Music Conservatory – Francisco Rosado (CML-FR) is the organizing entity of the 2024 edition, it invited the acclaimed musician Jan Wierzba for this purpose.

The internship usually takes place over five days, typically from Monday to Friday, and culminates with the performance of a concert in the organizing city and/or region.

Projects of this nature offer unforgettable opportunities to the students involved, dignify the schools and entities involved and, not least for the Loulé Music Conservatory – Francisco Rosado (CML-FR), leave a cultural footprint in the place that has the potential to positively “contaminate”, in the short and medium term, the students and potential students of the future Conservatory, as well as the population in general. It is important to mention that this project is a national reference for its artistic level.
