Jungheinrich Portugal has reinforced its fleet of ‘workshop’ vans with the acquisition of 19 new vehicles. The company, a subsidiary of the German group Jungheinrich AG specialized in intralogistics and automation solutions, now owns a total of 43 vans that are intended to provide technical assistance at customer facilities throughout mainland Portugal.

The 43 workshop vans are dedicated to the repair and maintenance of cargo handling equipment and provide customers with “a service solution with a high level of efficiency”, says the company. The vehicles include a work bench with a lathe and cabinets, where it is possible to accommodate a tool kit. They also accommodate a stock of basic parts and other materials that allow technicians to repair most of the most common equipment faults.

“This service reduces equipment downtime and reduces costs. There is also a clear benefit in terms of environmental impact, since the reduction in the number of equipment collection and delivery trips allows Jungheinrich Portugal to reduce its carbon footprint”, the company further argues.

Gabriel Brás, head of after sales at Jungheinrich Portugal reveals that the objective is to gradually replace a significant part of the fleet with 100% electric vehicles.
