O INEM will launch a new public tender for the medical emergency helicopter service, which foresees the return of the aircraft to Viseu, after which it launched in January and received two proposals with values higher than the base price.

The value was 54 million euros but according to those responsible for the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) the proposals presented were “well above that amount”.

Therefore, they decided to launch a new tender for “leasing aerial assets and acquiring operation services, permanent airworthiness management and aircraft maintenance”.

Two of the four medical emergency helicopters at the service of INEM have been operating only during the day since January 1st, as there is no company that guarantees the service of the four helicopters 24 hours a day for the stipulated price, a situation that has left the which operated from Viseu and Évora.

INEM hoped to have the situation resolved in six months, but the need to open a new tender will prolong it for some time.
