Lectures, concerts and exhibitions in Vouzela to celebrate 50 years of the 25th of April

The Cineteatro João Ribeiro, the Municipal Museum or some schools in the municipality are the stages for the initiatives that take place from the 7th to the 28th of April

Throughout this month, Vouzela will host several initiatives that aim to mark the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April. The city council, in partnership with some local institutions, created a program that included lectures, concerts or exhibitions.
The Cineteatro João Ribeiro, the Municipal Museum or some schools in the municipality are the stages for these initiatives that take place from the 7th to the 28th of April.

A performance is scheduled for this Sunday (April 7th) to mark the 152nd anniversary of Sociedade Musical Vouzelense, at Cineteatro João Ribeiro, at 5pm. On April 13th, Cineteatro João Ribeiro hosts the Song Festival in Tons de Abril, scheduled for 9pm.

On April 19th, the presentation “À Descoberta de Abril” takes the stage at the Cineteatro João Ribeiro, at 9 pm, organized by the Vouzela School Group, the Vouzela and Campia School Group, the Vouzela Professional School and the Associação Grupo de Ginástica de Vouzela.

On April 20th, at 9:30 pm, a solidarity show will take place with the choir of former orpheonists from the University of Coimbra. The entry fee goes to ASSOL – Lafões Social Solidarity Association.

The Municipal Museum of Vouzela will host on the 22nd, at 9pm, the initiative “Meeting with my history”, which will be attended by the Captain of April, Colonel Castro Carneiro, and who will also be, on the 23rd, at the Vouzela Secondary School (10:30 am) and at the Vouzela Professional School (2:30 pm).

On April 24th, the Cineteatro João Ribeiro hosts, at 9:30 pm, the show “Ideais de Abril – A Cor d´Art”, which combines poetry, music and video. The initiative has the special participation of Bombos from the Cambra Cultural and Recreational Association.

On April 25th, the solemn session commemorating the 50th anniversary of April 25th will take place at Cineteatro João Ribeiro, starting at 10 am. The following day, in the same space, the municipal youth assembly “April 25… 50 years later” takes place and, on the 27th, the show “Vozes de Abril da terra da Liberdade”, at 9:30 pm, with Grupo Vozes da Terra, an organization of the Union of Parishes of Vouzela and Paços de Vilharigues.

The program closes on April 28th, at the headquarters of the Liga dos Amigos de Vilharigues, with the initiative “Paços de Vilharigues – 50 memories of the 25th of April”, at 3 pm.

Two exhibitions will also be on display: at the Vouzela Municipal Museum you can see, from April 17th to May 5th, an exhibition of posters from the revolution, from the University of Coimbra; and, from April 25th to May 1st, the multimedia and documentary exhibition “The Dawn of Democracy in Vouzela” can be seen in the Binaural Room.
