Families in need in the municipality of Lamego with companion animals are now entitled to free veterinary care. The initiative promoted by the Municipality of Lamego is part of the Municipal Regulation for the Promotion of Animal Welfare.
In a context of economic difficulties, families often no longer have the capacity to guarantee essential goods and services for their animals, namely medical and veterinary treatments. Economic difficulties contribute greatly to the growth of animal abandonment.
The provision of free veterinary care depends on a municipal application, by filling out a form and sending the requested documents to [email protected].
The documents required are the following: latest IRS declaration and respective assessment note; photocopy of ID or Citizen Card; Proof of Residence; Proof of IBAN and invoice associated with the veterinary expense.
The Animal Welfare Plan of the Municipality of Lamego has a set of initiatives in place that aims to support the most disadvantaged families so that they can ensure health care for their animals, combat abandonment and promote responsible adoption.
