In a post on social media, the Trás-os-Montes coach showed his new club’s shirt and wrote: “After a scare, his health is good and now we’re going to fight”.

At 42 years old, Tony, who was coaching Montalegre in Serie A, in the Portuguese Championship, ended up resigning from his position after the game in which the Barrosões lost in Santo Tirso by three balls to zero.

Now, he has accepted this new challenge in Romania, where he will lead Politehnica Iasi, from the Romanian I Division, currently ranked 13th and instead of competing in the relegation playoff.

Accompanying the Trás-os-Montes coach are assistants Rui Machado, João Fernandes and Steven Sanche.

The first official game will be next Monday, at 5:30 pm, against FCU Craiova.

SUPPORT OUR WORK. SUPPORT NEARBY JOURNALISM.

At a time when information is more important than ever, support regional and local journalism. Access to most VTM news is (still) free, but it is not free, journalism costs money and requires investment. This contribution is a way of directly supporting A Voz de Trás-os-Montes and its journalists. Our counterpart is independent and local journalism, but not only that. It means continuing to inform despite all the contingencies of confinement, without having stopped for a single day.
